kell 09.00

Several core issues raised during the initiation of new legislation concerning higher education and research in Estonia are related to the need for more coherent and clear regulation of academic positions, including improved vision for career development, selection and promotion possibilities, systematic approach to fixed term as well as permanent positions and enabling mobility between academic, private and public sectors. The aim of the workshop is to provide the stakeholders with relevant information about the latest international trends in academic career models as well as to create a platform for mutual learning and discussion on the subject. Experts from the World Bank, VSNU – the association of universities in the Netherlands and universities in Sweden and Finland share their experiences and insight on the issues of academic career related policies, including early stages of the academic career, institutional and sectoral policies on selection, promotion, career development and remuneration. The World Bank will co-host this event as part of its ongoing dialogue on higher education in the Baltic States and neighboring countries.
