Second Workshop on Doctoral Studies

The goal of the seminar is to support our members in the process of developing doctoral studies. Improving graduation rates and strengthening labor market relevance for careers outside academia are among the topics discussed this time. The University of Tartu has invited representatives of their partner universities from Aalto University, University of Göttingen, University of Groningen and Uppsala University to share their best practices and experiences.
In this seminar, we will focus on the following topics:
- Status of the doctoral students, including conditions of work contracts and remunaration during the studies.
- The flexibility of the doctoral training programmes. Thesis requirements.
- Objectives and responsibilities of the graduate schools in doctoral training. Support (mentoring, networking) offered to doctoral students during studies.
- Activities encouraging doctoral students to take up a career outside of academia. Best practices and challenges in cooperating with enterprises.
